Archive for December, 2005I got a raise!December 28th, 2005 at 01:13 pmI got a raise up to what I was making at my previous job!!! I'm so happy. It'll definitely help us out. Perhaps we'll get that house sooner than we planned! Christmas BonusDecember 27th, 2005 at 08:04 amI think I was a little harsh on the transit workers. However, I did spend a lot more money than I should have in the three days they were on strike. Anyway, I received a Christmas bonus from my job and applied half to credit, $200 something to house fund and another half to christmas gifts for next year. The money we receive from DH's grandmother is being applied to travel and gifts. I think that was a fair arrangement. I hope to be out of debt on one card by the end of the year. DH has one card and we should be able to get rid of that by the end of the year too. We're on a roll. We've also revised our budget to reflect clothes and personal maintenance costs. Transit Strike 2005December 20th, 2005 at 08:14 amWell, we are in the middle of a transit strike. Thanks to the workers I now have to pay almost $18 to get to work instead of $4. Personally, I think they should all be fired for breaking the law. Other than that, we are finally done Christmas shopping and sending out the cards. I am so glad...Anyway, I have to get back to work...spent $3.75 for breakfast. UpdateDecember 7th, 2005 at 07:00 amWe are over budget this month by almost $300 dollars due to unforseen vet costs for two cats and buying some home goods to make our home more presentable this season. We had no lampshades on our lamps and our lamp in the bedroom wasn't giving off enough light to see. Anyway, I was denied for the transfer of credit so we're going to be paying off the balance slowly by doubling it. Also, we will be putting away at least $100 toward a house. We're also not done with Christmas shopping, but on the upside we have four more presents to order closer to the date, the tree is up and decorated and presents are wrapped. This weekend I am going to buy the supplies to cook the meals for christmas and new years(money coming from food budget) and write and send the cards. Other than that, everything is looking decently this month. We're slightly over budget due to the cats but we have enough in savings to cover it.... |
